Before
After
On Saturday the 17th I ran my first 5k, the Cottonwood Classic in Thornton, CO. I went with my friends Roberta and Stephanie. Roberta used to be in the army and left Steph and I in the dust. Steph stuck it out with me even though I probably was slowing her down. Thanks girls for motivating me! My goal was to finish it without walking and not come in last and I did it! My time was 35:01 and I placed 338 out of 425. Not great but definitely a place to start, hopefully I can do better next time.

Swimming Lessons
I signed Mason up for swimming classes at the community pool. Our new neighborhood has a pool and I wanted to get him ready since we'll probably go a lot this summer. His teacher was named Mr. Russell and he was really excited that his teacher had the same name as his uncle and would sometimes accidentally call him Uncle Russell. The classes were barely above controlled chaos sometimes but Mason did pretty well even though he still hates putting his face in the water. They would play this game where the held a plastic ring just out of reach under the water so you would have to put your face in to reach the ring. Mason just kept hooking it with his foot and bringing it to the surface. You gotta give him credit for being resourceful.
Here he is right after he accidentally went under the water. He didn't mean to go under and the look on his face is priceless.

New Best Friends
In mid April we moved out of Kevin and Jeanne's house and moved into a house here in Parker. The neighborhood is so great. Just in our cul de sac alone there are three other three year old boys that Mason plays with every day. Here he is with Samuel and Griffin riding bikes and having a "popcorn party"

Miscellaneous Cuteness
Peyton loves to help with the dishesIs that a Sports Illustrated you're reading? I found Mason perusing the SI while doing his business. He'll probably hate me when he grows up for posting this picture.

Easter Pics.... Finally
Easter Morning in Colorado... What a beautiful spring day.
On Saturday the Easter bunny came and hid the baskets and eggs in the house since it was too cold outside. Mason didn't want to take the time to look for his basket since Peyton's was sitting right on the table in plain sight. Once he realized there was no candy in her basket, he started looking for his. Peyton's favorite part about her first easter was definitely sucking on the plastic eggs.
On Sunday we dyed eggs and went to church. Mason did not want to get his picture taken in his church clothes. Church is at two, so we have to wake Mason up early from his nap and he is never a happy camper.

The Big Two - Seven
So it was my birthday on Wednesday the 19th. It started out pretty typical which is to say it was lame. Mason had two potty accidents (more on that later) and I had to take Peyton to get her immunizations. It ended really well though because we went out to dinner as a family and Zach got me flowers and a KitchenAid Mixer. Yay Zach!
So the Mason potty training saga continues. A few weeks ago I was at my wits end with potty training Mason. I started last October and had tried everything from candy, stickers, toys, bribery with trips to Disneyland and being able to go to preschool and nothing was working. He was fully capable of controlling it but he just chose not to. Whenever I asked him if he wanted to use the potty, he would say "Not today." So one day I was telling him about how his cousin Bridgette who is a few months younger than him was potty training and was wearing underwear. He got really excited and said he wanted to call her and ask her who was on her undies. So he called her on the phone and they had a five minute conversation about using the potty and what kind of undies they wore. Since then Mason has not worn a diaper during the day. He's had a few accidents but otherwise it has been an amazing turn around. He is finally on his way. Thank you Bridgette for the motivation. I should have known that as a Leak male, competition is the only way to motivate him.

Pump It Up!
This is Mason's new favorite place to go. Its called Pump it Up and its one of those places that has a bunch of inflatable bouncy things. Its a good way to get all his energy out and make sure he takes a good nap. Last time Peyton and I even went on this slide together. It was pretty fun.
